Privacy Policy

Effective September 24, 2026 · Last updated September 24, 2026

Strata Petroleum, LLC (“Strata,” “we,” “us”) buys oil and gas mineral rights from landowners, primarily in Eastern Ohio. This policy explains what personal information we collect through stratapetroleum.net and our internal Strata Ops application, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

The short version

Information we collect

We collect information only when you submit it. The “Request an Offer” form asks for:

The form does not ask for a Social Security number, taxpayer identification number, bank account, or payment card, and you should not send those through this website. If we reach an agreement to purchase your minerals, we will request tax identification (typically on an IRS Form W‑9) separately, through a secure channel, at closing — not through this site.

Our web server keeps standard operational logs (IP address, request time, browser user‑agent) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these to build a profile of you.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to:

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you. A person at Strata reviews and approves every offer.

When we share it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only:

Some information about mineral transactions becomes public by operation of law. Deeds and other instruments are recorded in county records and are publicly accessible. That is a legal requirement of transferring real property interests, not a choice we make.

Strata Ops and QuickBooks Online

Strata Ops is our internal business application. It is not offered to the public and is not available to customers or third parties — only authorized Strata personnel can sign in, using their company Google Workspace accounts with multi‑factor authentication, behind Google Cloud Identity‑Aware Proxy.

Strata Ops connects to Strata’s own QuickBooks Online company file so that our operational records and our accounting records stay in agreement. Through that connection we read and write only our own company’s accounting data — our chart of accounts, vendors, bills, deposits, and journal entries. Specifically:

How long we keep it

If you ask for an offer and we do not reach a deal, we keep your inquiry and related records so that we can recognize prior contact and honor any request not to be contacted again.

If we purchase your minerals, we keep the transaction records for as long as we own the interest and for as long afterward as the law, our lenders, and sound title practice require. Mineral title records are long‑lived by nature: a deed executed today may need to be produced decades from now to prove a chain of ownership.

How we protect it

We encrypt information in transit and at rest, run our systems in a private Google Cloud environment that is not exposed to the public internet, limit access to the employees who need it, use dedicated least‑privilege service accounts, and keep audit logs of changes to important records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law. We apply the choices above to everyone who asks, regardless of where they live.

Children

This site is meant for adults conducting mineral transactions. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor holds a mineral interest, we expect to deal with a parent, guardian, custodian, or trustee.

Other sites

This site may link to outside resources such as county recorder offices or the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. We do not control those sites and this policy does not apply to them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top. Material changes will be described plainly rather than buried.
